TL-S vs VW GTI ?

my friend just got a new GTI 1.8T and for one reason or another he thinks its the fastest and coolest car in the world (it’s a nice car for 20k).

sooo now he wants to race my 03 TL-S with cai....

what are the odds his stock 1.8t will take my TL?

According to Car and Driver, a 2002 VW GTI 1.8T with a manual tranny will do 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds, the 1/4-mile in 15.3 seconds.

According to Road and Track, a 2002 Acura TL Type S will do 0-60mph in 6.2 seconds, the 1/4-mile in 14.8 seconds.

That's pretty close if you ask me... 0.5 seconds. Obviously those numbers will vary depending on a number of variables (e.g. driver error, temperature, road conditions, amount of gas in tank, etc.).

In any case, that's stock vs. stock. I'd give your car the nod in any case for two reasons. First, you have an automatic, which means that you have no chance for error (just floor the accelerator and hold on), while he has to shift manually. Second, your car is modified.

You should have no problem at all. I can beat my friends GTI in a 0-60 sprint no problem in the TSX.

Cool R32

The R32 is the shizzle!!! That car is sooo fast and it is 4-wheel drive. I read an article where they took it up over 200 mph. I definetly would not want to be in any VW product (let alone a Golf!) going 200mph+!

i was told with the aftermarket turbo package it would do over 200 mph and they said it would also produce around 600 hp.
