took a civic turbo for a walk

I ran across a white civic hatchback on the way home last night.

I got next to the car and I started to "goose" him. My friend noted that the civic had a front mount intercooler installed on it and all sorts of gauges in the car.

First I heard him floor it (loud sound being extruded from the fart pipe) then I heard his turbo spooling up and that was it. I was in second gear around 4Krpms when I floored it and the guy never came close to catching me.

I know what your thinking big deal it was civic but the second I heard that turbo I was thinking to myself good GOD I’m going to get run by this POS civic.

Not to mention Mustang GT's. I heard he's got the fastest '93 Legend on this side of the planet.

Its one of those stealth Legends that doesn't show up on video tape.

N20: So what did THIS guy do to you???

If nothing, then why hate on his story???

Why not just "nice kill", why speculate that the other guy was allegedly 'slow'?

It just seems to me that at least some people on this forum exist only to down other people.

He tried to videotape it, but it was one of those vampire cars that don't show up in mirrors or cameras.

Just because it has a turbo mounted doesnt always mean they mounted it properly-- bad timing, bad tuning , lacking parts --anybody can preatty much slap a turbo on anything but getting it properly tuned - dynoed- and just in synchro with all the other parts of the engine to get the maximum power possible without all the lag is a whole nother story. Nice kill tho , peace.

because SOHC civics aren't anything special, throw a turbo on them and they are barely quicker then a Type R.

I did say nice kill. Other people question how he beat a turbo civic, I stated it was probably a SOHC car which are slow to clear it up for some people.

Just a little background for you legend, I build cars from scratch, I know alot about them. There is nothing you can say to steer me away from reality.

What the hell are you talking about, "steer you away from reality"???
I just noticed that instead of simply a "nice kill", there had to be some remarks about how slow the other guy musta been.
There's no way to know if the guy had a strong turbo, weak one, one with peanut butter for oil, or whatever.

"people question how he beat a turbo civic", its not like its a factory honda turbo, the turbo could've come from anywhere and had any amount of power. So to question his ability to beat a "turbo'd" Civic just seems like negativity.

I saw the car again yesterday on my way to the bank so he must live in my area of town SO I’m sure i will see him at one of the local meets next Saturday. IF i see him i will talk with the guy and see what all he has or what he is lacking.

I do not doubt the civic could be fast as hell with proper tuning i was just shocked that i walked away from him....

The bottom line is you can put a turbo on any engine and get some gains BUT if you don’t know what your doing it could be a waste of time and $$$.

For what its worth
When I raced the civic my car was LOW on gas the needle was on E… a week prior to this race I came across a mustang either 5.0 or 4.6 with exhaust. Same ordeal, we both took off from a 30 punch and I took the mustang by a good car length and again my car was on E. I know little gas = less weight but still my car is much faster for one reason or another with a low tank…
