Are you planning to use that deck to power your speakers or are you going to purchase an amplifier for your speakers?
Let us assume you don't know anything about car audio, okay? If you want your speakers to play at their fullest potential, you will want to purchase a small amp just to push your speakers. You don't have to buy an amp though but it helps the clarity and bass of your speakers, whatever size speakers you purchase.

Not to be a wise guy - how many $$$$ are in your budget? Depending on the power levels the Alpine puts out, you may or may not need an external amp between the head unit and the speakers. Also, what's your musical taste? That will determine what your expectations are. A lot of window-shaking bass: Big AMP(s) and Bigger Sub woofer. Smooth jazz / Pop - smaller power requirements but better drivers (speakers) with separate tweeters would work for you. The bottom line will be dictated by: How many $$$$ do you have and what are your expectations from the final project. Good luck - keep posting and we'll do our best to help you.

My budget would be around $200 for the speakers (door & rear). I don't mind going a little over $200 but I would like to keep it around there.
I do listen to a mixture of rap, R&B, jazz, gospel. I intend to add a little sub in the back perhaps a 10" just to add a little bump but nothing that makes me deaf. Here is my goal. I sat in an Acura TL and their factory system is very good. I want something like what the factory sound is like. It's clear and crisp sound.....and thanks for the help! I appreciate it.

The system in the new TL's is really good, I like it a lot. Nice and clear, like you said.
I think Alpine speakers are great, and you could easily land a good set for around $200. Infinity or Polk also does a good job, but as far as all-around frequency response, I like Alpine the best. I would try doing that first, power 'em with the deck, and then see if you're happy with that or if you want more bump or power or something. |

Ok...i'm planning on buying the alpine Type R's for my front door speakers. Can anyone recommend which speakers I should use for the rear? I'd like to stick with Alpine for the rears as well.

You could get the Type-S, I think it's pretty much the same thing as the Type-R without a separate tweeter. I had those and loved 'em.
