*Amp Wiring**Stock Sub replacement **
I like the sound in my TL but I would like just a little more bass.
I have a JL 250/1 amp and was thinking about replacing the stock sub w/ a JL 8W3V2. I have read that it fits in the stock sub spot. Has anybody done this? Any warnings before I start? A couple questions about the install: Where do you tap in for the 12V REM turn on? Where did you get the RCA output signal from the stock system? This might be a horrible idea, but do you think I can use a "line out converter" (converts the signal going though speaker wire to a RCA setup, http://www.sjgreatdeals.com/sisloc80.html ) to tap the signal going to the stock sub to provide an RCA input to the amp? The I could control the sub volume through the stock setting controls? Will any of this interfere/mess up how the stock system works? Do I have to worry about the impedence to the stock head unit amp if I unplug the stock sub? Thanks for your help! |

we did this at work a few times, tagged the rear sub with a line out adapter to the rca's on the amp. then used a remote lead from a cig lighter source, we actually used the ignition wire under the dash.
sub is controlled just as it is in the system. i think the TL lacks the clarity and sharpness.....ill upgrade that soon. interference with impendence wont matter cause your just taggin that signal, you can probably just disconnect the factory sub as well. |

watch out for line output convertors, some are not as good as others. If you want to get the best for your audio system, you can get an audiocontrol lc-6 or the new rockford unit. I haven't heard much about the rockford, so I would stick with the audiocontrol. If you want a good, cheap LOC, try this place: www.davidnavone.com he makes his own stuff and ships out very fast. Highly recommended by the members at caraudio.com. I personally use the NE-7V to add a single sub to my setup.
