What I know so far...
I know if you want to hardwire a specific receiver into an Acura there are several ways to do it, depending on how much you want to spend and the result you want to achieve.
If you have a Sportster 5, or any other unit for that matter, you can hardwire it both power and audio fairly easily. An FM Direct adapter is maybe the easiest and most inexpensive way to hardwire the audio, and combined with a vehicle power hardwire kit, you are done. This route will cost ~$50 and you will have your unit mounted off the dash or window somewhere. You can take it a step further and use an auxiliary input adapter depending on what model and year your Acura is. If you go this route you could even potentially hardwire the satellite receiver, audio and power, with one unit. This will provide better audio but you will still be left with the Sirius receiver out on your dash somewhere. This option would be ~$100. All of these previous options require that you still change stations control with the Sportster 5 or whatever receiver you have. You could take it a step up and plug the Sportster 5 into a dock that then connects to a separate unit that then allows you to be able to control the stations through the headunit in your car which is a really clean look, plus gives you the flexibility to take the unit out of your car to use in your house. Basically there are endless options when trying to hardwire satellite radio into your car, Sirius or Xm, for that mater. If anyone has questions, let me know. I am kind of a geek about it and if I don't know, it gives me something to find out. Ok Thanks. |
