Does anyone here have a sub installed in the spare tire area of the trunk? If you do, what kind/size?

I had 6.5 component polk momos in the front of my last teg (95 GSR). I think they were the MMC6500s. I liked them a lot. I tried a couple different spkrs for the back, but never found anything that fit because the space was too small and shallow.

I have 5.25s in the door and 6.5s in the rear of a '96 GS-R coupe.

Alpine Type S-es are a tight fit in the rear and you have to cut a section of the OE speaker grill out to aim the tweeters.

Just cover the grills back up with accoustically invisible cloth and it looks fine.

if u have a coupe, theres a chance u might have to remove the rear panels in order to remove the rear seat speakers... i couldnt just pull them out of the grill opening, so i had to do it the hard way but at least they are mounted tightly in there.

the front door speakers come out of the grill opening fairly easy, altho if u have a seperate tweeter on the upper door, ud have to take the door panel off to get at that... thats on my to-do list!

your best bet is to throw some 8s or maybe some 10s. otherwise you are probably gonna need to do some custom work to make it look good.

if ur really gonna do that then u get whatever size makes u happy cuz its all custom work anyways...

me, id prefer having a spare tire, ive had one blow-out already and id rather slap on a spare and get going again then to sit around waiting for AAA to tow my ass home.

I can assure you that they are 5.25s. The speakers I pulled out were the pooftah OE pioneers with rotted foam rolled edges and they were 5.25s.
The Alpine SPS13C2s went right in

My Civic EX had 6.5s all the way around.
