subwoofers

Ever since I bought my car (exactly last year this sunday), I wanted to install a subwoofer in the teg. I have found a sub that is in my price range but not very sure if they are reliable. Here it is:http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Bazoo...oductDetail.do
Does anybody own this setup? If so, some pros and cons would be great. thanks

will two 10 inch subs that produce 300 watts have good "umph"? I remember that my fuse holder has a 50 amp fuse in it, I never really understood the difference between a 20 amp fuse and a 50 amp fuse.

well "good umph" would mean one thing to a serious car audio enthusiast as opposed to a newbie. Are you wanting a boomy bass where you want the car in the next lane feeling the bass or do you just want bass that only you can hear? Also what kind of music do you listen to? Type of music matters as well.

I guess two 10s would be okay for you but remember two things:

1) be sure you have an amp that can push your subwoofers
2) this is very important that a lot of newbies don't know. BE SURE THE ENCLOSURE IS BUILT TO SPEC! ..meaning that the sub box is built in the right dimension of whichever subwoofer you end up getting. the dimension recommended should be in the owners manual of the sub. On a side note, "boomy" bass i would recommend a ported enclosure. If you like tight bass, sealed enclosure is best.

This is the one I just got
http://www.sasbazooka.com/productAut...sEL.asp?id=322
Trying to figure out what materials I will need to get this working. Right now I have 8 guage wiring, 50 amp fuse, grounding, and aux plugs from when the previous owner had his sub

never mind I already know what I need now. Just picked the sub today and have to say it looks clean and great in the trunk. Now all I have to do is hook it up and see how good it sounds

i stuffed 2 15inch kicker comp's in the back. Its enough to pop the hatch if i leave it un latched and im sure you guys know how heavy a dc hatch can be without the struts to help hold it up (which i dont have any)

8 Ga should be ok, but be sure to run the wires safely!!! Go through the firewall with a grommet, NOT through the fender/door jamb as that's just asking for a fire. Seriously.

Also, keep the signal (RCA) wires as far away from the power as possible to help prevent distortion.

I'd recommend doing some reading on car audio, perhaps http://www.the12volt.com just to get yourself familiar with everything. Car audio is something that people just perceive as easy and no big deal, but to do it right there's lots of preparation and math to be done (you get to save on lots of that since your package was premade.).

Shoot me a PM if you need help.

Well I finally got the sub hooked up today. For two 10's, these subs bump pretty hard. I know everyone has their own personal preference on what bump is, but the cost of these subs are well worth it.

bazooka makes subs that make sound. they're like babies who don't shut up..they just make sound. same category subs as audiobahn, boss, pyle, pyramid junk. Check out how much bazooka goes on ebay. Then check out subs like resonant engineering, image dynamics, tc sounds, sound splinter. These subs will blow bazooka out of the water.
