Subwoofers

i know this is a little off topic, but i wasnt really sure where to post it so i went with here. i installed 2 10" subs in my teg a couple months ago and just recently they stopped working properly, they fade on and off, and the power light on the amp comes on and off when it stops and starts working. i thought it was the ground so i re-wired the ground and checked all the fuses but its still doing the same thing. does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? and also, because im still pretty sure its the ground, whats good to use as a ground in a 98 integra? thanks in advance

i hooked my ground up to one of the bolts from the tail lights. but also check the remote wire, mine got pinched and it got cut, and my subs stopped working.

what kind of amps do you have?

so you have 2 subwoofers hooked up with no amps to power them? your stock (Head Unit) HU does not have the power supply to properly power the subwoofers... you need to add suplemental power (such as an amp) to feed the hungry subs with the power to perform at the level in which they were created to do so.

in any case, you might have burnt out your HU trying to power the subs, regardless if those are the only speakers hooked up to your "system".

what is your current set-up?

HU and SUBs

Wow, I didn't even know you COULD run subs off a head alone...

If that's what you're doing, you need an amp ASAP, and probably a new head unit as well.

Car 1: 95' Integra LS???
Well, first off, are you matching the right wattage in RMS? For instance, when you bridged the 4 channel for the subs (i'm assuming you did that right) were the watts RMS matched fine? Generally, because it gets more complex, it's often better to run a 2 channel for that set up instead of a 4, hence more problems.

another problem could be the amp overheating too.

I work in car audio so yeah.....

BTW what is the RMS of each sub and what is each channel RMS rated on the amp?

I agree with the overheating. I remember my amp going on and off a long time ago when I had a problem with the amp overheating.
