XM or Sirius - Help Me Choose

Terry's bugging me for a gift idea and I've been tossing around Satellite radio for the RSEX.

I'm not into Stern!!! I think he's an asshole Always have / Always will!
Music is my thing - 70's - 80's - 90's. Classic rock, Christian rock. Talk radio bores me; don't care about sports radio or listening to games.

Want it to interface directly to my Alpine head unit (DVA-9861), which is "Satellite Ready" and I want everything to be controlled via the Alpine head unit - no extra displays or portable slip-in adapters.

Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

Double-posted as not everyone tracks through the lounge and i guess this is where this really belongs.

My big issue is how good are the satellite converters at connecting in to a "satellite ready" head unit. Alpine absolutely sucks ate providing any information on what they recommend - and I think they're just waiting to see the whole merger thing go through before releasing any hardware.

I've seen some Sirius converters - but I don't know how good they are. I've read about some "Terk" brand stuff (and usually I have no luck with this 4th level crap) and I'm looking for real life experience with some members actually having gone through this - either successfully or not.

I appreciate all the input I get before making a decision - and the decision I make may be "Fawk no - It's not ready for primetime yet".

So, thanks for any and all advice - experience. It's all good.

Thanks to Everyone for all the input. I know this sound stupid, but the deciding factor came down to hardware integration into my existing system. While I've had XM in my rental vehicles - and I like the musical offerings - XM's hardware offerings for the Alpine vehicles are almost non-existent. About the only 3rd party hardware is from Terk and my experience with Terk has always been ! Scratch XM!

Sirius has an offering that will match up with the Alpine, via an Alpine interface, so that my existing head unit will seamlessly control everything.

My only wish is to be able to find a "shark fin" type of antenna, like some of the BMW's are equipped with. My other option is to "stealth mount" the standard, low-profile Sirius antenna somewhere on my RSX. Any options / ideas will also be appreciated.

Again - A Big Thank You for all the advice I received from everybody. It did make my decision a lot easier.

To Willie followed by a holiday chorus of Pips
