Car 1: 2002 Acura RL3.5
2002 RL Steering Wheel Shake

My 2002 RL has a severe shake in the steering wheel most noticeable brakingDownhill. Nothing felt in the brake petal. Driving twisty roads car pulls back and forth, any line in the road it wants to follow. Problem worsened when new tires were installed. Bought car with 45000 miles as a certified Acura it now has 80000 miles. This started at 50000 miles with a poping in the front end when the temp was above 80 deg. Took it to the dealer 3 times with this complaint and they were of no help even though they acknowledged the poping. I'm now out of warranty and left up to fixing this problem myself. This is just one of the problems I have had with this car.

Lessoned learned:
1. Never buy a lease vehicle, no one turns in the good ones.
2. Never buy a Certified Acura , It a big lie, certified my foot.
3. Acura dealers are not capable of diagnosing crap.

Check these in the order.

1. Tire and wheel balance
2. Wheel alignment
3. Front rotors
4. Front tie end rods

Yep it can be anyone of them problems listed by 97_RLer.
My 2000 TL has been doing this for awhile now I know its the Front Rotors & Brake Pads. Iam do for them again also I need fornt ties & alignment.
If your car does this at speeds like braking from above 40mph it may be the rotors & pads. I will get my rotors resurfaced & a new set front pads as always will be put on. I have been thru this drill several times in the 8yrs I have had my car. This is most likely your problem & your dealer should have notice this. When I took my car in a few months ago for other problems they noticed quite a few problems with mine. The steering wheel shaking when braking. I told them I knew that. They also said my battery was reading low & I needed a new positive battery cable. The dealer did not lie the battery was 5 years old. I told them I would purchase another Sears Die-Hard. I purchased a new battery this mournig will let Acura do positive cable Monday,
The front brake rotors resurface & pads will have to wait a few more weeks.
New tires in the front will have to wait a bit longer along with alingment.
This is not my primary vehicle anymore so I have to do things when I get money.
