I have 96 Acura Integra. Today Sep 5th 2008, I got the front tires changed by Firestone, and immediately after that, my car has started to bounce like crazy. Never did that before. Any time there is a small amount of roughness in road surface, the front goes up and down like it is stilling on soft springs. Over speed cushions, the car goes OUT OF CONTROL due to excessive bouncing. Firestone representative told me that it is due to struts being off load for sometime (car on jack), and natural wear of struts (still original)... is causing this issue. He also assures that after driving 75 miles or so, I should not see this issue. I am not sure if that is accurate... I am suspecting some kind of fishy thingy here. PLEASE HELP ME.... -Sam |

Sameer,
How many miles on the car? Those symptoms are signs the struts have given up the ghost, or no longer any good. Push down on the corners of the car and see if it's easy to bounce. If very easy and the bounce continues after you let go - their gone. If resistance is firm - chances are they're good. But if they have a lot of miles - they should go. |

It has more than 100K on it. I think around 110K. What does NOT make sense to me is.... why it would go sooo bad out of sudden. I drive into Firestone, and it is perfectly fine. No bounce, no nothing. They replace tires and perform wheel alignment. They call me to tell me struts are bad and need replacement. Then I drive out of Firestone, and lo behold I am sitting on a bouncy ball??? Can you or someone explain that sudden change of behavior?? Thanks, Sameer |

Since this seems to be the RL Suspension question thread...
I looked at at 2002 RL today, and may purchase it this week, only big issue right now is it seems to clunk in the back over bumps big or small, esp at medium (25-45mph) speeds. I am assuming from the reading on here that possibly struts, but more common either the strut bushings or the sway bar endlinks? Anyone with knowledge I'd appreciate it. This is a 2002, 137k miles, black on black... Anything else I should check/double check I'd appreciate it. I know to find out about the 100k maint. records, other than that, fill me in! Looks like a 1 owner car, and in great shape when I test drove if for awhile today. Oh BTW, this is my first post on the forums, so everyone say it together "Welcome CRXMotorsports" ![]() |

STRUT QUESTION
If the car is making a clunk noise at 25mph that means you have a sway bar link problem. I would replace the sway bar links before replacing the struts because I learned the hard and replaced the struts which cost about $150 each and that is not including the bushing you have to purchase seperately.
