Transmission 2002 RL
I have a question regarding my transmission. I have 67000miles on the car. I bought it used and have never had the trans fluid changed. I have noticed when I come to a stop the can feel the car down shifting. It also does not seem to shift as smooth as it did when I bought the car. Has anyone else noticed the same feeling? I checked the trans fluid level and that is fine. How important is it to change the fluid at 60000miles?

very important. just let it change. twice in a row. and then again after 30k miles and keep up that for every 30k. then your AT will last almost 4ever.

I agree with RLuke. I changed mine every 2 years (every 50,000 miles). Got 251k on the transmission on the RL and it is still fine although the engine gave out. I imagine a replacement transmission for an RL would be about a $2000 job. Used transmissions go for $450 on Ebay and there is a lot of labor involved...
