97 EL *need help removing rear power Lock actuator*

Hey all,
My driver side rear door in my 97 EL (same as Civic EX for ppl not from Canada as the EL was only issued in Canada) does not work with the power lock switch or keyless entry so I'm assuming the actuator is toast. The problem is removing the actuator. I undid the screws holding the latch in and it all moves around but the rod connecting the outer handle to the latch seems to be the culprit and im not sure how to disconnect it cuz there isn't much room to play with in the door. If anyone could give me step by step instructions on how to replace the actuator that would be great, thanks
