Hello all,
I have been trying to get a 2005 acura EL Premium at an affordable price but they all seem to be sky high/close to $19k. I was wondering what are the key differences between the 2004 and 2005 premium models... i thought there is a slight difference in the leather material but still confused. Any help would be appreciated. Secondly I have seen this car in silver, figi blue, and black...do anyone if its available in other colours? Any recommendations? Thanks! |

I do not believe there are any significant differences between the 2004 and 2005 models, with the exception of perhaps colour availability. 2004 was the minor refresh year (which did include slightly redesigned seats, which might be what you're thinking of), and 2005 was the final year before the CSX replaced it for 2006, and usually there aren't huge differences between the last 2 model years. Therefore, I'd go with the less expensive 2004 model, providing the mileage isn't too bad.
2004/2005 models were also available in white. Can't remember if you could also get it in grey and red, and maybe a lighter blue? Again, maybe there was a new colour or two for 2005 that was not available in 2004. |

Anyone know how much KMs can be done on a tsx versus the 500km/per fillup i heard with the EL? thanks again for all the help! ![]() |

Are you looking at a used TSX or a new 2009? I assume used, since you were previously looking at a used EL.
The 2006 "refresh" added/changed: styling/cosmetic changes, more HP, added 2 position driver's seat memory, AUX audio jack for MP3 players, faster/updated navi, brake assist, standard front fog lights, hingeless wiper blades, HandsFreeLink (Bluetooth), Maintenance Minder. IMO, a 2006 is totally worth getting over the 2004 or 2005, unless you find an amazing deal on an 04 or 05. Fuel consumption is more than the EL, obviously, for a larger engine, but still good. I can get about 600-700km per fillup on the TSX, but that's also with a 10L larger tank. TSX "recommends" premium fuel, though. I personally do not put anything but premium in it. All Acuras will recommend premium fuel, except for the non-Type S CSX, EL's, and non Type S RSX's. |

hey RiceBoy, thanks so much for the info. Found your response very helpful. Now i'm back to the EL, still trying to see the benefit of a 2005 model over 2004 (remaining warranty), less problems?, etc. If these were your choices, and would want a silver one (avilable in both years) which year would u go for? Usualy i find a $1500 difference between the two years with relatively same KMs.

If mileage is about the same, I'd take the cheaper 2004 model, since there really is no difference between the 2 model years. A 2005 model will only have about a year left to the standard warranty, unless the previous owner had an Acura Plus extended warranty (which is transferrable), which I don't think is worth the extra $1500. The 2004 and 2005 models have been reliable. Just make sure they haven't been in a major accident. Run a Carproof.com (Canadian equivalent of Carfax) check to be sure, before you sign.

Thanks so much again for your help! Really appreciate it. Yesterday I went to see this really good deal on a 04, with 70,000km for $15,400 after tax, 750 amin fee, and certification (at a private dealer). As for the accident the dealer told me over the phone there was no accident but after going there and doing a carfax report it turns out it was in an accident with reported damage...so ur tip was really helpful
..he claimed since it was under $500 it wasn't anything major..but oh well. ....so for now im gona stick to Acura dealers there was a same car with same milage for $14,900 before tax/any fees so will see how it goes. ..i been noticing many have bumber damage (paint issues..including many at Acura before fixup) ..is this because the bumber is kinda low and hits the curb? TM. |

Service Bulletins
Hello,
I figured out how to post. Not used to Internet forums. Does anybody know where to find service bulletins for a 2004 EL? Also, does anybody know the best way to boost mid range power without dropping the low end? Thanks |
