Hello!
Saw this post and just had to comment. I have an '02 1.7EL and have had the seat bushings replaced at least SIX times and the seat base once! Two different dealerships have dealt with this problem and it has not shown any signs of being resolved (darn seat is rocking back and forth like mad again). The car is just about out of the extended warranty and Honda customer service says they won't lift a finger. Very, very frustrating, to say the least. I've never had a car (all were previously domestic models) that had a problem with the seat coming loose until now. I'm the only one who drives the car (my mechanic aside) and so the seat always remains in it's full-back position.
Dealer says this was fixed on the '03 or '04 model EL - that this car was the only one of the lineup to "feature" seat bushings.
What I was thinking was to order a set of replacement bushings from the dealer and then have a machinist fabricate metal replacements (aluminum, steel or some such). I figure the metal bushings wouldn't wear out like the plastic ones currently in place.
What do you think?
