Problems with '02 Acura 1.7EL
Hi all!
Bought a 1.7EL new in '02 and have had a few issues with it. Most irritating is that the driver seat keeps coming loose! Every 20k or so kms, the darn thing will be rocking back and forth... very irritating and very distracting. Dealer - Camco in Ottawa, can't stand them - has replaced the "worn seat bushings" SEVEN times and the seat mounting base once. Problem returned on cue. I'm the only driver, other than my mechanic (Honda man) and the seat doesn't move from it's farthest back position. It drives me nuts! What can I do about this? I've never had a seat come loose in a car before! Next most irritating is a noise at about 3200 rpm... sounds like a rattle from the front end. Camco claimed they couldn't find it numerous times, but now the warranty on the exhaust is exhausted, I learn that, and this is from a muffler shop nearby, that the header pipe is a double wall pipe and the inner pipe has cracked and vibrates against the outer pipe. Anyone ever heard of this before? There are other irritations - squeaks and rattles from various places (dash, doors, etc) and others... while I'm overall pleased with the car (no major problems in 150k kms), these irritations and most esp Camco's terrible customer service, will probably (unfortunately) keep me from another Acura until there's more competition in the area. I'm love to get these two major issues resolved though so I can continue to enjoy my car (I actually prefer driving my GF's Focus as it completely lacks these silly issues). I don't care if I need to get custom made parts for the seat, etc to resolve it... just want it resolved. Help!! |

Sucks to hear you are having problems. I've noticed that with our car, we have a similar thing with a rocking in the drivers seat. The only thing is, it seems to go away if you adjust the side dial (the tilt I think it is?). That seems to fix it right away and I haven't noticed it doing it at all for the past year or so. We also had some rattles in the headliner, but they were fixed very quickly.
I have noticed that some dealers (and this seems to happen in a lot of company's) have really poor service (customer service). I would just take it somewhere that provides good service. I've had a couple of things that tick me off with Acura's service...i.e. paying over $45 for an oil change and having their excuse be that the price of oil has gone up...yes that's true, but other companies haven't jacked up the price by 50%. Good luck! |
