Anyone running Amsoil ATF in there 2G TL's?

If so what kind of changes have you noted? Also are you exchanging the fluid or just doing a service with the 4 qts? Amsoil is suppose to be Z1 compatible.

Experience on other Forums has been that the Amsoil will work for a while but eventually cause shift quality issues. It is NOT the same as Z1 no matter what they say.

Stick with Z1. If it has been a long time (more than 35 - 40K miles) since the fluid was last changed, or you bought the car used and have no service records, drain and fill (a little over three quarts) THREE times over the space of a week or two. That way you will have almost new fluid. Do Not Flush!!!!

OK, let me be the devils advocate here. Most people are running Honda's Z1 oil yet some have went through 5 transmissions. All of these trannys fail due to heat, I was hoping to extend the life of my transmission since mine is one built after Aug of 03 and does not qualify for the extended warranty. Any thoughts???

Good point..Amzoil claims better heat dissipation than ZF1?
Don't get me started on the tranny problem

Before switching to Amsoil ATF I had a surge when my TL would shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. After dropping the fluid 4 times to get 100% synthetic I have 8000 miles on Amsoil ATF and have experienced smother shifts, quicker warm ups and haven't had it surge since I replaced it. I thought I would post my results for people like me who want to do whatever they can to help Honda's poorly designed transmissions.
