Brake lamp warning light

Evenin' folks...have an 02 TL that I recently purchased. I have an issue where the brake warning light on the dash comes on intermittantly. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason for it, and neither of the brake lights are out, and the parking brake is fully disengaged...anyone seen this intermittant problem surface before? The guy I bought the car from took the car to the dealer for the same thing a year or so ago, and they could not duplicate the problem. Before I waste some money to have the same problem (beng unable to duplicate the problem, that is) has anyone had this happen, or fixed it for that matter???....Thanks

Check brake fluid level. Had same thing last Winter, as pads wear .......down goes the fluid.

I'm having a similar issue on 2000 TL. It's started happening now that it's colder and after 5-10 minutes the light will go off and will stay off until its sat for awhile. I checked the brake fluid level and it looked golden and at a good level. I had new front pads and rotors installed in february and it's only been like 4000-5000 miles since then.

Could also be goo in the cap screen, causing the float /switch in the cap to stick.

First thing, has it been 3 years since the last time you had the brake fluid replaced? Acura has a 3 year interval for this (regardless of mileage).

If you are sure the fluid has been flushed, unscrew the cap and look in there. (#9 in the diagram) There is a plastic mesh screen inside. Should be absolutely clean.

Final action is to replace the cap. The float may have lost it's buoyancy. Acura caps are about $25 USD from the dealer.
