EGR kit

Getting a bunch of work done on my TL. Got the P0401 error and need the exhaust passageways cleaned out.

Could somebody give an explanation the actual components in the EGR kit? Seems to be two things that can or need to be done:
1. replace the actual EGR valve
2. clean out the passageways

My mechanic is currently waiting for the EGR kit. I tried to look up the components of the kit and could not find the item on the Honda/Acura parts website. Got a quote of $450.00 for the entire work which seems to be reasonable.

My understanding is that the kit retrofits the EGR to comply with a service bulletin and provides the tools to clean out the passageways? Just trying to relationship between the error code, EGR kit for the retrofit, and cleaning the exhaust.
