HELP! Transmission problem with 118,000 miles & Dealer won't help

Hey guys, I don't know if anyone has had a problem like this but I have a 02 TL-S and this is the second time my transmission has failed. The first one was covered under warranty but this time, since I am over the 109,000 mile mark acura won't participate and help me with my transmission. Its going to cost $3,600.00 Plus to get this replaced. Does anyone know of anywhere or anything I can do to not shell out this much money. Thanks, need help asap guys!!

Have you only spoken with a dealer? If you have, try speaking directly with Acura Client Services (the number is on Acura.com or Google it). Because it's out of warranty the dealer won't get reimbursed by Acura for the repair if they do it on their own. Normally a (good) dealer will try and go to bat for you, but it sounds like they're not doing that so you'll need to do it yourself. Since 9K isn't really that far over the warranty and you've already been through one replacement, they might be swayed to take care of it. Or at the very least split the cost with you. They know the car has a history of severe transmission problems so hopefully they will eat this one and take care of it.

You should call the Acura of America. Their number is 1 800 382 2238. My friend's 2000 TL also got that transmission problem, and when I called the Acura, they mentioned an extended warranty for the car for 7.5 years or to 110k miles. I think you car is still OK for the warranty.

Good luck!
