Value of 2000 TL with bad transmission

Hey,

New to the site, and hope this is the correct venue for this type of question. I have a 2000 TL with 140,000 miles. The transmission needs to be replaced. I'd rate the car in fair condition (based on blue book). It was running fine before the transmission went. I've decided to sell the car at this point. I was offered $1000 from a mechanic at the shop I brought it to. Blue book has the car valued at $3,300 (fair condition, with working transmission). Does $1000 seem reasonable? Thanks for your input.

same situation, spent my life buying selling cars. Basically someone out there would probably pay 1000$ for it, but realistically if someone offers you 500$ break their hand taking it from them
