Why is my car hesitating...?

Hey Acura Fam!?

I just got an fuel/air induction service for my car. I did this hoping that the hesitation would stop.

My car hesitates between 30-40 mph when I accelerate at a gradual pace. When I put more power to it, the car is fine.......

What else needs to be done/changed/fixed for this to stop??

Thanks for the help...!

I'm wondering if it's a throttle position sensor issue. Does it happen when the gas pedal is at about the same spot every time? The way you describe it, accellerating slowly might highlight the bad spot, whereas giving it more gas will avoid it. Test it out in neutral and watch the RPMs carefully.

I was just going to post on this as well. Mine does the same thing. If you are driving around 40-45.....then coast like maybe if there's a car in front of you....then add a little bit of throttle, it hesitates. It's not a huge deal to me, but is irritating some times.

I will occasionally mix in a little 89 octane fuel and I thought that this was causing it, but i was able to rule it out this past weekend.

not a spark plug problem.. you'll feel buckling in the car if a spark plug was dead as that cylinder is not firing...

sounds to be a tps sensor or tranny issue

Wouldn't the check engine light come on if it was in fact the tps sensor?

It's most likely the tranny. I believe it's slipping (3rd gear is a problem). When the hesitation occurs, is it while the car is shifting into/out of 3rd?

I'm not an expert, but I do work on cars. From what I know and have encountered, hesitation problems are the result of dirty fuel injection systems, old/faulty distributor (don't know about how that happened), and faulty transmissions. It could also be the O2 sensor from what I'm told, but seeing as how you had fueld/air induction service, I doubt it's any of the above.

By the way, please don't use below 91 octane fuel (or below whatever your manufacturer recommends) This could damage the engine.
