1997 Acura CL cooling fan
Hi guys,
I have a 1997 Acura 2.2 CL. The A/C works fine. When is drive on freeways, the engine stays at the normal hot temperature (the gauge shows 1/3 hot). When i keep the car on in idle, the engine gets heated up to the max. The cooling fan (on Passenger side) does not turn on until i turn off the Engine. To my knowledge, the cooling fan has to turn on when the radiator is hot and it will go off when the radiator temperature goes below and this keeps repeating. Do you guys know whats wrong with my cooling fan? Also, when the engine is getting heated up, reached max, all the coolant is pressurized and it leaks from the radiator and the external coolant tank. Any help is appreciated. Thank you Prat |

Its either the coolant fan temp sensor or the fan motor.

You may also want to check the condensor fan. It should be on when the car is running and the A/C is on. My 97 2.2 CL had the same problem and the condensor fan motor was not working. I got a replacement motor at Autozone for $99.

Attention Acura Experts:
If both fan control sensors are good, and the fan motor works, could this be the fan control module? I am having the same problem, I thought I fixed it by replacing the faulty condensor fan but no. I am considering getting the fan control module but I can't seem to locate it. Shouldn't the main fan be on when the car is running and at temp? HELP! *********** Problem solved! It turned out that the Fan Conrol Timer (Computer) was not working correctly. I ended up changing both fan switches (A & B) and the timer. Now the fans come on when the car gets to temp and goes off when needed. The Fan Control Timer is a dealer only item and is located on the car behind the glove box.
