PIAA Fog Install on 99-01 TL Warning 56K
Hey guys, did the install on the PIAA 510 on my TL today reaching high heat of about 95 degrees (feels like over 100). There is no cutting involved of the bumper support with my install. 56K users you might need to wait a while before the pics come up. (sorry)
The PIAA Ion 510 Lights http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/PIAA.JPG After all the cutting end result should look like this. Be sure to use a file and file off the excess plastics. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/08.JPG I decided to make L brackets from Home depot. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/19.JPG I drilled the a hole here so I can mount the L Bracket http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/15.JPG Here is what it looks like when Installed http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/16.JPG I put the bumper back on to see where I need to drill the hole for the fog to mount and to adjust it. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/18.JPG Once I measured carefully, I marked the hole where it needs to be drilled. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/20.JPG The hole is clearly visible for mounting at this time. You will need to repeat that for both sides. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/22.JPG Use the supplied PIAA wires to mount everything. I will not go over it here. Here is the final product. I will wire to my accord switch another time since im tired http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/24.JPG If yo guys have any Q's feel free to PM me or reply. |

Thanks man.. I feel so priviledge to be the "man" LOL
The entire project was about $250. The fogs really costing that much. I really measured the fogs wrong so they are a lil "big" so they stcik out just a lilttle. I realy dont care. But if you get smaller fogs you should be fine and probably an easier install than me. The brackets and bolts from home depot was about $6-$7 bucks with tax. I already had the zip ties so there you have it. It took me about 4 hours to install everything. Mainly because I did not know what I was going up against the bumper support etc. I really cut the entire hole because I cant make perfectly round circles. It would look really off anyway. Its easier to cut the whole thing off. I just used a hacksaw blade and a drill. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/04.JPG You will need to drill holes around the corners so you can manouver the blade easier. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/06.JPG |

Update. Here is how to wire the accord fog switch to the PIAA wire harness.
1) Cut the PIAA harness. You will see three wires http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/wiring1.JPG 2)Connect the black and red wire to (- Black of PIAA) Then connect the Blue and Red/Black to (+ Red of PIAA ) and finally connect the green wire to (+ White of PIAA). http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/wiring3.JPG Here is a look of the accord fog harness on the rear of the switch. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/wiring2.JPG Thats all folks :-) |

OK Paul.. you got me mad.. so I decided to flushmount the darn fogs!! Yep I had to cut the bumper support using a Makita Hacksaw. Took me another 3 hours to install it all. I think it was well worth it.
You will see the circled area where I had to cut the excess off of the bumper support. You can compare to the above pictures to see how much it was taken out. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/flush3.JPG Yes, Paul it looks much better than sticking out. http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/flush5.JPG http://benster.alphadata.net/TL/foginstall/flush6.JPG |
