Oil

My 2002 RL has 147,000 miles and does not blow a drop of oil. I have changed the oil every 10,000 miles with Mobil 1 and a mid grade oil filter.

I also did the same thing with a Chevy Tahoe. Over 200,000 miles, no oil blowing.

I just bought a 2008 TSX and was planning to do the same thing. Anybody have any thoughts on that?

With your own results, the questions should be: Why Shouldn't I?

A '07 CRV is our first car ever that burns oil, and has your same K24 engine. And we've had several Honda and Acura vehicles before (all bought new). Honda said if it's less than 1 qt every 1K miles, it's normal and the can do nothing about it. Fortunately, consumption seems to be going down. I swtiched to M1 5/30 at 4K, and from 1/4 qt every 1K miles, it's down to 1/6 now. Hope it keeps improving, but it was a disappointment, especially being 100% Japanese. So don't be surprised if you have a bit of consumption. Good luck.

Believe it or not, all cars use oil. We would all have blown engines if they didn't. I am not trying to be a smart alec, but that its true. Less than 1 Qt. per 1,000 miles is AOK.

See ya
