TSX Engine Oil Issues?
Has anyone ever had a problem with "burning engine oil" with their TSX? I've got a 2004. I've never had any problems with it until the Engine light came on last week (Thurs. afternoon). I took it to the dealer the next day, and they told me a number of things were "out of whack":
cam position sensor out of adjustment crank position sensor incorrect phase vtec system fount activation not working correctly I'm told that there was "no engine oil in the car" which I find highly unlikely. Especially since I was told by one of the senior service reps that when the engine oil light comes on, there still is some reserve. The light never came on. (and I'm told it's working fine) Point to note, the engine light did not appear again the following morning (Friday) before taking it to the dealership. I was scheduled for and oil change and brought the car in pretty much on time (supposed to bring it in for 118K kms, and actually got it in on time give or take 200km) I've had times where I've only been able to bring the car in with around 1000km over the interval, which I know isn't a good thing, but I've never had a "no oil in the engine" issue. I usually don't post a whole lot, but have been a member of this site since I bought the car brand new, I frequent the site often, and have found many helpful tips, solutions, and suggestions regarding various things about my car. Any insight to this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Depending on what oil you use, VTEC engines are known for burning off oil.

Did you spring a leak somewhere? Did you look underneath the car where you park her? Did you notice any blue smoke? Did you check the valve cover for leaks or where the filter gets screwed into the block?
You got to see where its going. Good luck OEM Bob

There were no leaks or any sign of leaks anywhere (garage floor, driveway, oil filter, oil pan plug) and there's no blue smoke. I've always gotten the oil change done by the dealer so it's definitely Honda/Acura approved engine oil.
The only thing that I can think of is that it seems to have coincided with a trip to the gas pump. It all started literally 24 hours after my last fill-up. I've since spent all the fuel (generally have to fill-up every 4 days due to amount of driving) and will keep an eye on it. After talking to one of the senior service reps, he indicated that the technician basically told me what "the diagnostic computer read out" and that it's very unlikely that there really was "no oil" in the engine. I'm sure someone will ask...I've always put 91 or higher octane in my car and made sure I put minimum 94 this time just to be safe. Lastly, I do routinely check my car on a reasonable basis. I've had this car for almost 4 years and have owned a car for at least 6 years prior to that and have never had any issues regarding engine oil with any of my cars until now.

You have to wonder did they put enough oil in the crankcase to begin with on the last oil change?
Good luck and keep us posted. OEM Bob

To provide you with an update, barely 2 weeks after the "check-up" and oil change. the engine light came on again. I talked to a senior tech. and will be taking the car back in tomorrow. Even he admitted that it's definitely not an oil issue. I'll let you know what happens.
