What kind of gas mileage are you getting?

Hi all, I'm getting around 26 MPG in mixed driving (auto tranny), how is everybody else doing?

My 2004 TSX was getting

around 32-36MPG on the highway...I could make it from Raleigh, North Carolina to my home in Staten Island, NY on one tank of gas, with 2 gallons to spare.

It seemed for me the optimum speed was between 65-70 MPH..no lower or faster...As a matter of fact MPG got worse the faster I went - No surprise there though...lower than 55 MPH the mileage also went down.

Go figure....

Local driving I got about 25 MPG.

If you want to increase MPG - make sure the car is washed and waxed - that offers less resistance to the wind..make sure your tires are properly inflated too. Check them once a week.

See ya

I'm getting 27-30 mpg. Tire inflation is important and I always keep my car clean, but making sure it is always clean is not going to get you better gas mileage. If you had 25 pounds of dirt on your car, sure, but come on. Get rid of any extra weight that you dont need in your car as well for better mpg.

Redlight - look it up...a clean car will get better gas mileage than a dirty one....

I know this post is old but I just joined I am getting poor bad gas mileage; barely 21 mpg. I have an auto 04 TSX. It is making me really sad because everyone else is getting much better mileage. I mostly drive the commute to/from work and its about 11 miles, 8 or so on the highway. Any suggestions? Should I be concerned enough to take it to my mechanic? Many thanks!

The TSX gets the gas mileage that it does, and there's not too much you can do about it really. I'm getting 20.2 mixed (mostly city). An all-freeway trip once averaged to 28. The only thing you can do is implement gas-efficient behaviors like, you know, clumping errands into one trip and all that. Your annual spending on gas is not a function of your fuel consumption unless you hold the mileage constant. So the only solution I found is to minimize driving.

So, don't think your poor gas mileage is a problem that needs fixed. Its normal.
