Great Turkey Giveaway contest

Welcome all to The Great Turkey Giveaway contest. I would like to also welcome any new members to Acuraworld.com and I am sure you will find our forums friendly and informative.

I would like to open this thread with a topic for discussion. If Acura were to make a vehicle the way you would want it what would it be? As example, I would have liked a 3rd generation TL that had a rear wheel drive option and a tad more horsepower.

Good luck to all those who enter this contest.

I wish the next TL would be redesigned with RWD. They could share the same platform, albeit stretched for the next-gen RL, as well as a redesigned MDX, AND the rumoured 50k sports coupe. With that much platform sharing, the costs should be kept to a minimal. A one-off RWD TL version would simply cost way too much in way of development and limited production numbers would mean a big net loss.

VTM-4 should be available on the RWD TL and MDX, and SH-AWD on the RL only.

Honda should then develop a DOHC i-VTEC V6 as an optional engine in these models to supplement the SOHC V6s. Who needs a V8 when you have high-output V6s with better fuel economy and similar performance. A DOHC i-VTEC V6 from Honda could easily crank out 320hp. Throw that in a RWD/AWD RL or TL and you have a virtually unbeatable package.

actually, i would like to see acura provide "inexpensive" trade-in's for the loyal owners, namely us, the next generation of the same model.

it sounds good, but on paper does not make them any money. how about just demanding that the car be somewhat flawless (no seat mem issues, no headliner issues, etc).

Wouldn't a RWD model require extensive modifications? Just think of the transmission and drive shafts. My wife and I were considering a BMW 325 and went with the TL mainly because of the FWD due to our extensive travel across the mountains during the winter.

they [honda] have done rwd cars in the past, they have existing "stuff" to yank from the blueprints cabinet, they could do it rather easily.....

i just would have liked that option. not saying all TL's would be rwd, just as a option, i would have bought the rwd.

They can't make a 'RWD option' of the TL. FWD and RWD would use completely different platforms. The chasis, suspension, engine layouts would all be completely different.

They've done two RWD cars. The s2000 and the NSX. Neither platform is suitable for a sport sedan...

It would be a lot more difficult than you think. That's why I propose that Acura develops a RWD platform for the next gen TL, RL, MDX, and possible coupe project.

big things (some already mentioned):
1. RWD or AWD...
2. handling can be better compared to BMW and the Lexy IS/GS....

small things:
1. available one-touch window/moonroof, i know that's not a major thing but very convenient.
2. fold down back seat (although a few sales person told me that since it's a luxury car, it's not right to make a fold down back seat.., i'm like @#$%@#$% what???)
3. day time running lights

that's all i can think of right now

good luck everyone...

I agree with the one-touch moonroof and windows. All acuras should have one touch windows on ALL 4 windows.

About the fold-down rear seat: It's not there because that would compromise handling. Acura employs a big sway bar back there to ensure rigidity.

I personally hate daytime running lights..but it looks like slowly Honda is making them standard across the line.
