Ok i finally got the info i needed to change my in cab air filter. Figure i would post a quick how to, plus pictures.

Step 1:
You will need to remove the glove box compartment from the dashboard. With both hands pull on the bottom of the glove box, and the side at the same time. It will take a little force but dont go pulling with all your might.

Step 2:
With the glove box seperated from the dash you will need to disconnect the trunk main switch, and light power wire.

Step 3:
Once they are disconnected you can place the glove box out of the way exposing the cabin air filter location. Dont worry about the plastic peace on the floor, it pops back into place when you replace the glove box in the end.

Step 4:
Squeeze in on the two tabs on the side of the filter tray and pull the tray out.

Dirty old filter

Step 5:
Clean out the inside of where the filter goes with a damp rag to remove any dust inside. You can see the dust sitting around the edges.

Step 6:
Replace air filter noting the airflow direction stamped on the filter tray, and match the filter to it. Slide the tray back inside being sure that the stamp on the tray is right side up. The outside tabs will pop when the tray is back in place.

Step 7:
Replace everything the opposite of how it was removed, be sure to line up the tabs on the back side of the glove box with their respective spots on the metal frame in the dash, and snap them back in with a firm push on the glove box. Snap the bottom plastic peace under the dash into its respective spot on the metal frame, and you are finished.

Hope this is helpful, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Damn Acura

I thought changing an Air Filter and a Cabin Filter would be a snap..hell most major automakers list these things under preventative maintenance in the owner's manual..Not Acura! I changed both on my 04 TL..took me almost a half hour for the air filter...30 seconds to pop the filter in...the rest of the time was spent removing and rehooking the battery connections, and finding a screw that I dropped..1 word ACURA CLAMPS!! The Cabin Filter gave me more pause and concern..after reading numerous posts and downloading the service manual I gave it a try. Well there is more than 1 configuration for the TL, the service manual lists the one, and I have the other. So luckily I found the video of the guy doing it that matched mine...I managed to destroy 2 clips by removing the molding behind the glove box!! I guess Acura didnt figure on time and heat making plastic brittle..same complaint I have with the Engine covers...plastic breaks...period! So after watching the video many many times...thank god for smart phones..i did the Cabin Filter in about 6 minutes and saved 160 bucks from what the dealer charged...even tho i broke 2 clamps, whose the say the dealer wouldn't have either and I would be none the wiser. Needless to say if you want to make big bucks, be an ACURA technician..
