04 TL Oxygen Sensor

Help me please. I just brought a 04 TL with Navi, 83k miles on it. And the car runs great. Took it to the Acura dealer to have an oil change done, since I freaked out when I saw <20% Oil life on the car information screen. Any way. Car had the oil change done, when they drove it out the Check engine light was on. They took it back in and told me the Oxygen Sensor was going bad. They reset the light, 3 days later it came back on, took it to Advanced Auto they gave me the code. "Oxygen Sensor stuck lean. Sensor 2, bank 1" Can I fix this my self. I opened the hood and look down and there is something that is very similar to an oxygen senor. Please help me. Acura wants to charge me almost 450 and honda 390. Thanks

I am new to the TL, so I am not sure the exact location or position of the O2 sensor, but I would say it is best to buy one from a autoparts supplier and install youself. It will be after the catalytic convertor. I would look on the exhaust manifold (may require removing a heat shield or 2) and follow it until you find the sensor. You may have to get under the car, so unless you can get at it from the engine bay, you're going to need to jack it up and get under. Once you find it, swapping it out is 10 mins. It can be longer if the exhaust is rusty, but you should be good to go.

Honda/Acura always rapes you on these things. They charge you hundreds of dollars for sensor you can get for $60 in the aftermarket, and then charge you an hour for 15 mins work. Definetely do this one yourself. I am on the road for business for the next 2 weeks, but if you don't get this done by then, I will check it out myself on my car and let you know exactly how to get to it.

P.S. You are not killing your car by running like this. On a N/A car running lean is not likly to do any damamge. The ECU willa djsut by retarding back timing, so you are probablu being robbed of some performance and gas milleage. Bottom line, if you have to wait a little to do it yourself, its still worth saving the $
