05 RL Air Filter Replacement
I hope someone has already replaced the air filter on 2nd generation RL. The problem is, I can't take the old filter out because things are so crammed under the hood. It looks like once I remove the battery, I think I can remove the old air filter. If anyone knows how to replace it without removing the battery, please let me know. I'm sure 3rd generation TL has pretty much the same setup.
Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sung |

I just looked under the hood of my mom's 2007 RL, and it appears that you will NOT need to remove the battery to perform this routine procedure. Rather, you will need to remove 4 screws from the air filter housing by using a long Phillips head screwdriver (preferably with a magnetic head). There should be sufficient clearance for you to get the cover off just enough to get that filter out, as the air intake is slightly flexible.

Thanks for the reply, but removing four bolts in the air filter housing doesn't seem to give me enough clearance unless I remove the whole intake hose assembly. I'll give another shot, but it looks like I need to remove additional parts besides removing four bolts.
Thanks. |
