Car 1: Acura Vigor
1993 Acura Vigor... replacing the Radiator

Whats up everybody... I'll be purchasing and replacing the radiator on my gf's Vigor next weeks... From what I understand, its a simple swap... Anybody have any advice? So far this is what I have:

1. Unplug the hose.
2. Remove the radiator
3. Put in new radiator
4. Plug it back up
5. Flush the fluids
6. Put in antifreeze and Distilled water.

Thanks in advance.

Well, if you need an accurate step-by-step, then better to get the Factory Service Manual, from Helms.com. Your next best thing, well, you're looking at it, me.

You'll want to put the key in the ON possition, and turn on the heat to MAX.

Take the key out, and proceed to drain the system via the drain valve at the bottom on the radiator. Refer to item #2 in the link.

While that drains out, you want to start working on the wire harness, and disconnect the temp switch, fans and relays. There are also clips that hold the harness in place, be careful not to destroy them.

After everything's drained out, remove the bottom and top hoses(ATF cooler lines if it's an A/T). Have some ATF handy if it's an A/T, you'll leak.

Remove the top radiator supports, and pull assembly out. A helper to guide and push harness aside helps tremendously at this point.

Swap new radiator with old while it's out. Keep original cap, and make sure sensor is sealed properly.

There is a bolt on the engine block, that is used for draining the block. It's located on the passenger side of the engine. It's not critical, but it's there if you should want to do that.

Replace radiator assembly and reconnect the hoses. (If you have an A/T, at this point you may want to replace those clamps on the A/T cooler lines to the newer type)

Connect harness to clips, and connect to fans, switch, and relays. Make sure the plug is closed.

If you decide to do a flush, flush with only distilled water. The Vigor will accept a little more than a gallon.

After the flush is completed, fill with pre-mixed Honda anti-freeze. There is no need to add distilled water to this mixture. Drain and refill reserour with Honda pre-mixed anti-freeze.

Clsoe cap, and start the engine with heat on MAX. Let it run until warm, and shut off.

Proceed to bleed the system using the 2 bleeder bolts on the engine and thermostat housing. Refer to http://tinyurl.com/yrrtek for more info.

After the system is proprely bled, allow engine to cool and refill coolant via radiator cap. Make sure the system is COOL before doing this.

That should do it.
