Car 1: 1993 Acura Vigor
'93 Vigor Fuel Tank Removal

Mint Vigor with 79K miles. There are two steel fuel lines coming from the above-tank area that each run into 4" rubber fuel hoses which connect to the lines running to the engine compartment. These lines are corroded and repaired with J-B Weld as far up as I can apply the J-B Weld. Not leaking now but I want to do the job right.

The local Honda dealer wants $1088 to do the repair saying they must replace all the fuel lines. Sounds high.

My service manual (the big shop manual) states that to remove the fuel tank, you remove the trunk floor panel to disconnect the 4P connector. It also refers you to Section 20 to show how to remove that panel. Well, there's nothing in Section 20 nor anyplace else that address this item. I don't want to tear up the glued-down padding under my spare tire unless I know for sure that's where the panel is.

There's a chance that I can access (and replace) the corroded lines from the access area and not have to drop the tank.

So.......who's done this job before?

I found the access panel and connector. The panel that covers the spare tire has to be removed from the trunk. Then the fuel pump panel and connector are exposed.

In any event, the car goes to my local independent repair shop for the job. My days of working under cars are long over.
