96 GSR hood latch.
Hey there, I was wondering if anyone could help figure this out. My hood refuses to close, I used to be able to close it with ease but then I had to slam it. Now it won't lock in at all. I'm thinking it could have something to do with the cold and the springs. Yet I've noticed that the pull tab under the seat is too loose. Would I have to replace the hatch and/or the pull tab?

I'm not sure about this one without looking at it, but here's my best guess: It sounds to me that the latch under the hood (where you put your fingers to get it to open) may have come loose before and then after some time of your having to slam it for it to close, you may have squished it ever so slightly in the wrong direction. So, it may have simply bent the latching mechanism and even broken the mechanism (cable?) that connects the interior/under-seat release button to the latch. In that case, you may need a new latch, or you may be able to salvage your old one, provided you haven't bent it too much.

Hey, i have this problem too. Possibly..My hood will close, but wont lock all the way down without pulling the release cord. whenever i open my hood before i want to close it. i reach down the hole where the latch is and there should be a black cord (release cord). Pull on it and this will slide the stopper out of the way. Then the hood closes no problem. Hope this helps
