97 TL Alarm Problem

The alarm in my 97 tl has just started to fire spontaneously. It's happened at least 3 times over the past 6 months and it occurs when the car is unlocked, ie., the alarm system is not armed. Obviously, when it's happened I've had to insert the key into the driver door and turn to shut the thing off.

Anyone have a clue as to what may be causing the mis-fires?

Thanks for your help.

The vibration sensors for your alarm may be set to a point where they are too sensitive, and so, they may need to be adjusted (I have no idea how to do this). A slight bump, a cat, or even a gust of wind, has been known to set off sensitive car alarms. I remember reading somewhere that another possibility would have to do with the condition of your battery, as these alarm systems can be quite sensitive to changes in systemic voltage. However, the people at your Acura service department may be willing to tell you over the phone what they think it could be if you ask them kindly, quickly, and bluntly to list the reasons that this might occur. If it's the factory alarm system, I assure you that they've seen this before and may be able to help you out.
