ATF Draining/Replacement
Hey everybody! Does anyone know how to drain/change the ATF in a 2000 RL??? I'm not sure where the drain plug is located. Is it near the front differential fluid plug? I need to change the ATF for my 120,000 mi. service and don't want the stealership to rob me! Thanks!

Trust me, these trannys are unforgiving. I can only recommend if you are going to plan on keeping the car into the 180k-200k on the odometer that you pull the tranny and replace the filter too. Failure to replace the filter regardless of the drain and refill method if you have never changed the fluid is extremely high on acuras. Honda makes great engines but shitty auto trannys ;(. You can listen and do it the right way now or be looking at a 3200 tranny bill when the car gets to the 180K+ (range if that long).
FYI, if you are planning on using the drain and refill method to prolong a tranny I would recommend performing this every 15k and starting no later than 60k on the tranny. IF your tranny has over 100k and the tranny fluid has never been touched I would not recommend touching unless you are swapping the filter out also. The filter is internal so the tranny will need to be dropped out. |
