Automatic To Manual?

Im looking to convert my auto transmission to a manual transmission and i was just wondering what would be the average price for the manual transmission and the shop installation?

well the easiest way to do it is to sell your automatic integra and buy the same one with the money but buy a manual one.

if you REALLY want to keep the integra you have now then get ready to be spending quite a few thousand dollars....1st off im sure the tranny is gonna run u atleast $1,000+ and then if ur gonna have a shop do it then theres gonna be alot more money of yours going to them for all the mods they gotta do.

i wanted to convert my automatic talon TSI to manual, so i went to a shop and they said it would cost me atleast $5,000 for them to do it................................................ ...................

5g's huh.... Yah not doing that. lol
I like to stay optimistic but DAMMMMN!

Yeah it sucks, I want to keep this car, it has sentimental value (first rebuilt engine myself) I mean, I bought the car for $1000 cause it was totaled and determined by a mechanic shop that fixing it would cost twice as much as the car is worth. But i bought it and rebuilt the entire car from scratch basically. So far, I have it on the road working in great condition! Couple of overheating issues but i fixed em'!

But, is it really worth it to convert to manual? I really want to, but for 5g's idk if its worth it.

I think its about $1000 - $4000 depending how new your car is. definitely just sell your automatic and just add some dollars for a manual.

You'll need more then just the tranny. Your looking at about 6-700 in parts and about the same to install..

$5k sounds a bit steep, but it's definitely going to cost 4 figures. On a teg, you can probably bag a transmission for under $1k, but having a shop do the labor for you is going to run you up like none other.

Give this topic a search in the teg forum, we've covered it about 538,302 times.

ok no need to bring dead threads alive....but if u want to know the CHEAPEST way to do it

buy a wrecked 5 speed of whatever ur car is and if ur good with mechanical stuff, pull ur auto tranny out, then take 5 speed tranny put in ur car, run the shifter cables (u need to weld a metal plate by the shifter or else u will see the road when ur driving, as well as water in ur car if u drive in rain) and then u gotta cut holes in ur firewall to mount ur master cylinder, swap out the ECU's, take the TCM out of ur car (u dont need it anymore) then theres 2 wires (srry i forgot what ones) but u have to connect them together for ur reverse lights and u also have to find the other wires and connect them so u can start ur car with clutch pushed in.

u DONT need ur TCM as it is only needed for automatic cars

and you MUST use ECU from a 5 speed!

easy way to make holes in firewall for master cylinder is (IF u bought a donor car) just use its firewall as a reference/guide.
