DIY removing change from behind the changeholder
So it happened again. Change slipped behind the not-ashtray which jams it open. I successfully removed the offending change once before when I was installing my blitzsafe ipod connector, but I couldn't remember how much of the console I had removed. And I searched the internets but came up empty. Ah-SO here I am to document my not-so-scientific process. If anything, it'll help me when I forget again.
I own a 2000 TL with factory nav. So for my car, under the not-ashtray is a plastic L-piece that hides the computer connection. If you reach your fingers to the top of that cubby hole, there's a space for you to yank it loose. (Incidentally there's enough space to bring out an ipod connector cable, if you were wondering.) Now look at the computer connector. If you don't see any change, drop a small object, like a dime, behind there and see where it falls. Hell it's already stuck open, what's some more change gonna hurt. Anyways, see how the change falls in that space between the change holder and the connector? That's where I'm talking about. My quarter was stuck behind out of sight, so I used some paper to unwedge it until I could see it. Then I fished it out with my fingers. And tada! Change tray closes again. To put the L-shaped plastic cover back in again, the long part goes vertical and the shorter part with the curved corners is at the bottom/horizontal. It snaps right back in. Hope that helps... someone! |
