2004 TL A/C Intermittent Issues

Did a quick search, and didn't see anything.... am curious if anyone else is seeing or has seen something similar..

About a week ago, I noticed (while driving up the interstate home from the office) that my A/C was suddenly blowing warm... great, I thought... car's old enough, probably needs a recharge. About 4 or 5 minutes later, she kicked back in and was fine... 10-15 minutes later, same thing. Doesn't seem to matter if I'm sitting at a light, driving in regular traffic, on the interstate, etc.

Today, I took it to a service place near my office (not the dealer) and they spent 5 hours trying to figure out what's wrong, to no avail. They ran the car for a while and said it 'blew ice cubes' the whole time. They drove it (as much as they could) and it didn't do it. Diags showed nothing. The manager there is certain it's electrical, as it's blowing ice cold air, so no charge, no condenser or major A/C-related issues. Nice guys were kind enough to not charge me the $100 diag fee, since they couldn't find it.

I intend to take it to the Acura dealer to be robbed up one side and down the other, but am just curious if anyone's experienced anything similar? My thought is something in the climate control, or perhaps a loose wire somewhere.... no clue, really.

Cheers -
-B

Sounds like a bad thermostat, but I'm no mechanic.

When did you last have the cabin filter replaced?

Hum...interesting.

As for the filter, I get mine changed out every 15k miles and they are disgustingly filthy every time. I probably should move it up to every 12k miles.

not a bad point really... I drive a lot of miles per year, so that's a good idea.

A/C conked out driving home twice last night - of course this morning, it worked fine, so I'll keep on truckin till it does it again and see if I can't nail down what's causing it...

From the "for those who might care" department...

Compressor clutch is going bad, per the dealer. Add the need for front Brembos being replaced, and we're at a cool $1,025.

Had some not-so-kind words for the folks that couldn't diagnose this seemingly-obvious problem at the local mechanic shop, and that's that.
