Car 1: 2005 Acura TL
2005 TL - "Please check your disc" error message

I recently purchased a 2005 TL it did not have any Navi disc in it and the dealorship is ording one for me. When I drove off with the car the navi sceen would let me operate the stereo through it. Today we unhooked he battery for a few minutes then when we hooked it back up i got this Please check your disc message. And it would not move off that screen. I then obtained a silver acura navi disc and when i put it in it said says something like downloading soft ware then it goes back to the please check disc message... Any Ideas?? i dont want to pay the acura dealer to figure it out.
Thanks

Not all TL model years use the same navi disc. The first thing you need to be sure of is that the disc you have is for the 2005 navi model.

I had that same problem with my 05 TL. It did that a few times when i just had the key turned to the accessory switch (only electrical system was on). I started the car and it then worked, so if the engine is not running when you try it, that may be the problem. But yes it does also need to be the correct disk and mine is orange and i believe each the versions can switch but for each car and year the disk color stays the same for easy tracking/upgrading.

Honda/Acuras have anti-theft security on their audio equipment. There is a separate code for the radio and navi! When the battery is disconnected, the radio or navi system will think that it was disconnected from the car and think you are the thief! I am not positive exactly what a TL will say when the radio/Navi is "locked", but does the radio function properly? Everything work except the CD/DVD part?
