2008 TL Navi Freeze Ups

Hi, all. Whenever I drive more than 1.5 hours using the built-in turn-by-turn navigation, the entire on-screen experience freezes up. The only way I am able to resolve this issue is by pulling over, turning off the car, then restarting the car. The nav usually picks up where it left off and all is good. Two questions:

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Does anyone know how to "re-boot" the system while the car is operating?

Thanks!

Does the 3rd gen nav use a DVD based system or a HDD based system?

I wonder if it might be a drive issue.
