A1 Service

I have my A1 service coming up soon. I was wondering what A1 service should include so that when I go to the dealership I know exactly what they should be doing. My dealership charges $39 for oil change and filter change. I have coupon for an oil change (along with the filter change) along with 24 point inspection, pothole inspection, tire rotation and car wash for about $60. I am not sure if my car needs tire rotation yet since it has about 3400 miles on it but all the rest seems to be worth it.

Also I am thinking of waxing it with turtle wax ice, anyone who has used it on their TLs??

as an acyra tech I can tell you that an A1 is a lof and tire rotation. They also do an a basic inspection of the car ie break check and tire tread etc... they may or may not find anything wrong depending on your mileage

You've never had a lof and tire rotation? Those are free!

They also change your blinker fluid!

Pothole inspection? I haven't heard of that.

I personally don't trust the car wash guys at the dealer. I always wash my own car.

$39 for an oil change is ok at the dealer. They probably use dino (regular) oil, and not the synthetic stuff. Obviously it's less expensive at a private service shop, and even less $ if you do it yourself.

I've never used Turtle Wax Ice. Waxing, to me, is like sunblock - the key is to regularly reapply. I've always been pleased with Meguiar's stuff.

No clue about lof. I'd hope that if the guy is a tech, they at least gave him a spelling test.

This is blinker fluid:

Don't think for a minute that we don't welcome the posts from experienced mechanics on here--techs, okay--that offer good opinions and get our members headed in the right direction.

And far be it from me to step in and play the role of grammar police, but sometimes clarity in what is said is essential so that misunderstandings are avoided.

I hope that the tech that posted that is of a good enough nature to take our having some humor graciously and understand that its all in good fun.

C'mon, really... you have "no clue about LOF"??
OK, I'll bite. LOF= Lube Oil & Filter (about as basic as it comes).
