Canadian TL Owners - Requesting Sticky PLZ - Page 4 - Acura Forum

Greetings all...

It was a long road, but i'm finally here. Picked up my TL-navi (silver) a week ago, and i'm loving it! Took about 2months
of car shopping to get here. Considered these along the way:

Mercedes c240-4matic:
Nice luxery feel, but CR and JD reports didn't have nice things to say about reliability.

BMW 330:
What do you mean it's not standard with the car? How much for that option? Oh, i get it as a package upgrade? $$$

Infinity G35:
Mmm.. nice engine .. handling ... interior doesn't seem worthy of
entry-luxery for what i'm paying.

Lexus is300:
Interior ooozes luxery .. great engine/handling ... just that the
backseat and trunk won't fit a baby seat-stroller (yes, i'm going to be a first time dad next month).

Then came the trip to Acura ... they had the dealership owner's personal TL just put into the showroom. He'd only driven it a few times. They were offering the NAVI trim for the price of the base trim (which i was shopping for). Talked them down $1000 and got them to throw in some little extras (touch up pen, extra oil changes, new plate registration, etc). And since it was a demo, didn't have to pay freight/pdi/gas & aircon taxes ... bonus!

When i picked up the car, i noticed there were wheel lock nuts installed with the key bolt in the trunk. Is that a standard feature? Or did my dealer throw those in as freebies?

Most of the dealers are putting the locks on when the cars arrive on their lots. Some are charging for them, some are not. I told my dealer I wanted them at no extra charge and they went for that.

Many dealers in my area are also etching the VIN ID into all of the glass pieces. I believe that almost all of them are charging for this. Because they do this to every car that comes in, you really have no choice in the matter and they make you pay for it. However, you could probably make a deal with some of them but I'm thinking it would be a real hassle. I paid for it.

Also, I think that most of the insurance companies that cover Acura dealers are asking/requiring that they add the locks and etch all the glass pieces.

The wheel locks are standard on every single Acura vehicle sold in Canada, as well as 2 free oil services, floormats, mudgaurds, and a full tank of gas.

Your totally right when it comes to the G35. Nice car, but interior is awful. IS300 is a wicked car as well, not enough room to carry anybody around let alone a baby seat and baby stuff.

Thanks for the warm welcome...

One other thing i've noticed, while washing down my new ride the past weekend. Each door window has a series of little black dots, right under the Honda logo. They look like small star constellations, and each pattern is different from the other windows. Any idea what/why this is?

Well, the TL's are far and few in my area. I see one on a regular basis in my neighbourhood .. otherwise i see about 1 per week. Just as non-frequent as TSX sightings.

Alright guys...
Let's talk colours....Why can't I buy a Red TL?
Where is the package that includes the exterior FX, such as a spoiler, skirts, etc. You can get it, but not as part of a neat package.
The offerings seem more eclectic than practical or desirable.

Welcome to AcuraWorld, Shesh! I take it you are posting here becasue you are in Canada (you didn't fill out your location in your profile).

I don't know about why we don't get a red TL. Honda Canada decides what colours to offer on the TL, and yes they can differ greatly from the U.S., even though both are built in the same factory.

As far as the exterior FX kit, you must be talking about the A-Spec package. Unfortunatley, it's only available in the U.S.

No No... the A-spec package is available in Canada. Im most postively (sp?) sure that we have it in Canada as well.

Yeah I hate the fact that we get shafted on the colors..... I remember when i bought my 2nd GEN tl-s i wanted WDP with ebony interior. Only offered in the US. That sucks balls in my opinion. But what can we do.

Welcome to AW Vic. What color combo did you choose? It is a beautiful car, that I am sure you will enjoy. As far as Vancouver Meets... I have no idea, Im in the cold region of Edmonton Alberta. There are not that many Canadian TL'ers here, but is growing. Please post if there are any questions.

Hi,

I bought the following combination. I don't think I could of picked a different colour int.
Anthracite Metallic with Ebony leather.

Picked up the lip spoiler from ebay for $208 CDN. Did not want to pay $600 at the dealer.

Will definately post pics soon. The weather here in Vancouver is half decent.

I picked up a '04 Redondo Red TL however it meant having to take the Dynamic Package (low profile tires, 6 sp, stiffer suspension, etc). I understand they dropped red for '05 in Canada. Hard to figure Acura Canada out.

I am considering a 2005 TL and am looking for a recommendation on a Toronto area dealer.
Also what kind of discount from the list price should I expect. The dealer tells me there is 8% profit in the list of $41,000. Is $2,500 too much to expect?
