Center Console Gets REALLY Cold
I've had my 08 TL for about 3 weeks now and love it. Just a few things to ask about;
One, with the A/C on the center console gets really, really cold. Almost to the point of being uncomfortable and my right leg freezes, might be an issue on a long drive. Also worry about condensation, I do live in Florida. Is this normal? I did a google search and found one entry from a guy who owned an 04 and complained about the same thing. Two, sometimes the transmission is just so smooth and sometimes I feel a slight and I do mean slight vibration thru the gas pedal, nothing major, in fact a passenger would not feel it. I haven't turned off the A/C and see if it is the different loads the engine is carrying which is doing it, I was going to try that next just for my own edification. When it does it, it almost feels like a slight wheeze in the engine if that makes any sense. Cannot say enough how slight it is, I only notice it thru the gas pedal. Third, when stopped and the A/C compressor kicks in, it almost feels like the car tries to jump ahead and I involuntarily push down harder on the pedal. Has gotten better as I have gotten used too it, the car doesn't really lurch ahead or anything, it just feels like it would if that makes any sense. None of these are bad or anything I would take it back for, I just wanted to know if it was normal. If there are any replies, thanks! Last edited by wilmmr : 05-16-08 at 02:24 PM. Reason: Addition |

Everything you have questions on is normal with the exception of the ever so slight vibration (hard to comment on it without felling it for myself). The reason the center console gets cold with the AC is that it channels through there for the rear vents (on back of center console) for rear seat occupants. The surging is pretty normal as my 03 CL Type S, 06 TL and now my 07 TL Type S all did the same thing, when the compressor kicks in the idle jumps slightly causing the car to slightly surge in the stopped position..... I simple cover the brake with a bit more tension and to be honest its second nature now.
Hope this helps and enjoy your new ride ![]()

You guys are funny -- the A/C gets too cold, the heat gets too hot! LOL! That means it works...
Seriously, if the console area gets too cold, adjust the temp control so it is a little bit warmer. Works for me. |
