Car 1: 2007 Acura TL Type S
Fuel Tank Question

I am a 2007 TL Type S owner and have a questions concerning the fuel tank capacity. This may have been discussed previously, so if it has, please let me know. The manual claims that there is a 17.1 gallon tank on the car. When the low fuel light comes on, it says that there should be about 1.2 gallons or so left. Doing the math, that makes 15.9 gallons of used fuel. I have never been able to fill the car up with any more than 13.5 gallons, even after the low fuel light has been on for a while. where are the remaining 2.4 gallons. That has a huge affect on the distance I can travel on a fill up. Anyone else notice this on their car?

I can tell you that there is waaay more than 1.2 gallons after the light comes on, just today I drove about 25-30 miles after the light came on and it took just over 15 gallons (15.152 to be exact) and that was rounding it up to the next dollar after it shut off. My H2 is the same way...... it has a 32 gallon tank, I have driven quite far after the light comes on till the needle is definately on "E" and I have never gotten more than 28.xxx gallons in it. I think they play it extra safe to ensure people dont run dry as it can ruin your fuel pump.

I always thought it was more like 3-4 gallons remaining when the light comes on. There's DEFINITELY more than 2 gallons remaining!

Yah... I can confirm that as well as I kept driving for a few days after the fuel light came on. It's got a ton of gas below empty tank light!!!!!! Well I don't drive much though so it's not like I put 100 miles each day.
