Yeah, my wife's Ford Escape has a mute/(picture of a phone) button. It's on the far right side of the radio. It's easier just to hit the power knob, since it's closer. All the mute button does is cut the speakers. I don't like that. The stereo in my truck has a mute that lowers the volume. I like that better.
The only way to turn off the screen that I recall is under the setup menu. |

Can the NAV system be made to record commands, as in if a person is a non-US english speaking, their accent would not be understood. Could a person record with their voice and replace commands like it is possible in cell phones?

Great post thanks it helps us new users out.. I know I get pist at the darn thing.
I did notice when it doesn't unerstand the command it will say back defrost on... I am like waht the heck. crazy, thenyou have to say back defrost off. Like I will ever us the defrost here in AZ - were I live anyways.lol ![]()
