I've got an '05 Accord Hybrid, and I'm starting to think this problem with the TL is not just limited to the Acuras. My tint is scratching just like described in this thread. Seeing that these cars are similar, I think I need to install the moleskin on my car, as well.

I just had my car tinted by Tint Zone in Rowland Heights in CA with Solargard HP Charcoal, 13% on the rear windshield and 22% on the sides. I like it dark. I paid $180 with moleskin installed on all 4 doors. The job is good enough for the price, but it definitely can be better. But he did the quarter windows and third brake light correctly. The car was tinted just last Saturday, so I still see some bubbles. I expect most of them to disappear after a while.

I chose the HP Charcoal because it's cheaper. Also I had my Accord tinted with HP Quantum, and I see wavy lines, like rainbows basically on the film under flourescent light. I wear polarized sunglasses and those lines are also very visible during the day and it's annoying.

I haven't seen any NAV degradation yet. Before tinting, I checked the # of satellites the antenna can see at several places. I haven't seen any differences after tinting yet. I don't really listen to FM, so I can't tell the difference. However, my 00 Accord has printed antenna, too and after the car was tinted with FormulaOne metallic (don't remember the name), I noticed the FM quality was somewhat degraded. I suspect this might be the same case with the TL.

more metal means more degradation. the small bubbles you mention will indeed dry up. in about 2 weeks they should all be gone. dont push them around.

can you post some pics in the gallery.

Cool Tint Cleaning

Tint Cleaning.

I am sorry if this has been answered before but I have searched extensively and have not been able to find a definitive answer.

What do you use to clean tinted windows?

Any window cleaner that's safe for tinted windows. It'll usually say so right on the product.

I ended up going to Astro Eclipse in Placentia, CA. The did the entire car with 15%Formula-One Pinnacle (not front winshield) for $375.

Initially I thought that the tints looked too dark from the outside, but now I'm used to them. I wonder how 35% would have looked though, and if I would have preferred 15% then. They did a good job with the TINTING part of the job.

Anyhow, I've got to go back to the tint shop, as the felt (moleskin) that they applied has since come off, and stuck to the window. I also see adhesive (from the job) on the windows, and I get moisture on the inside of the windows when I roll up/down.

I'll keep everyone posted, and take some pics.

can you get any info from them as to what felt they used and how they installed it. cheap felt on a poorly prepared surface usually leads to what you have said....

FormulaOne Tint Shop in So Cal?

Hi,

I have been driving TSX last two and half years, but I traded it in for 06' TL a few days ago. First thing I want to do is to have windows tinted.

My dealer recommended me a tint shop who does all their tint jobs. When I called, I found out that they use film from Johnson and does not install moleskin. An installer I talked to told me he never had scratch problem on any car he worked on. I also did some web searchs on films from Johnson, and I don't think it is one of better one in the market.

After reading posts in this thread, I decided that I want FormulaOne Pinnacle film and want moleskin installed.

Does any one know of good tint shop who install FormulaOne film in Los Angeles area? I actually live north of LA, Valencia.

Thank you.

As a matter of fact, they have an authorized installer in Valencia. From their webpage, just click on the locate dealer icon at the top of the page. I don't know how often their site is updated, so you may want to give them a call.
