Would it be possible to get around that? Say, add some small external antenna?

anything is possible when you have the $$$ to throw at it. you could probably add a navi antenna right inside the xm housing on the roof.

Tint or not tint?

Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I've read all the posts and now I'm a bit nervous about my upcoming window-tinting appointment this week...
I saw the list of question that AcuraKid posted, so thought I called the tint shop where I'm going to have the tinting done and see how they'd answer (www.tropictint.com). The technician I spoke to insisted that the moleskin (felt) is un-necessary because they 'do it right', and that the moleskins actually come off within the first week and would actually cause scratching. This place uses Llumar UV Shield (metallized), and the tech assured me that it does not, and will not interefere with my navigation system...He's claimed to have worked on many TL's and has yet to hear a complaint about the GPS receiption or scratch...
what should I do folks? Stick to the appointment ($269+tax) or forget it? any help is greatly appreciated!

i think the tech is full of shiat. even if they guarantee no scratches w/o molesking i would not want the hassle of having to keep going back and them ripping the film off. you need moleskin.

the film he quotes is used allot, but be warned about metallize films, its not just nav signal it can affect.

IMHO, 35% is a excellent choice. Tom at The Art of Tint is a excellent guy, does great work and great to deal with.

When I look at your pics of removing the door, how do you go about removing the strip and then reinstalling it?

I plan on doing this but dont want to screw up the weather strip.

the wipe molding itself just pulls up and off the door. its a pinch-hold piece of molding. pull up slowly on one end and you'll see how it attaches to the metal lip. be sure to note which side is facing forward and do one door at a time.

Just got a TL a couple weeks ago and found these forums to be very informative for EVERYTHING, thx everybody.

Now I need some real info though. I'm gonna tint the windows and I'd like some recommendations in the So. Cal area.

People keep recommending the Whittier Tint Shop and I'd like to just get it over with. Has anybody been there before? Would you recommend them?
And can anybody recommend any other worthwhile shops?
