Ok folks. its come to that time where other rising cost factors dictate the price. as such the Moleskin price has jumped to $5.25, sorry, its the only way to keep this product in my revolving free offer model.

also, due to time constraints this Moleskin will now only be sold via www.empirepao.com (a Monolith Engineering subsidiary).

any questions just PM me.

thanks.

Thank you for your recommendations Acura_Kid---I talked to Tom over at The Art of Tint, and he was very personable, and recommended that I come in and have him look @ the existing tint.

He said since the tint has no scratching, he would most likely only have to do a tint overlay saving me $$$. He's going to check it out, but he thinks the tinter may have already used moleskin. In fact, we joked that HE might have tinted my car previously lol. He does a lot of work for the dealerships.

He seemed like an honest guy, and his prices were as quoted here in the forums. I'm going to check him out next week after the 4th, and get this god awful LEGAL tint off of my windows. Who rides in 70%?!?! AACK!! I'm going for 35% all the way around. I think...we'll see. :-D

there are a few good guys out there. Tom @ The Art of Tint is one of them. be sure to mention my name to him, you'll get a good conversation out of it.

let us know what happens with your tint.

thanks for all the wisdom Acura Kid. I just bought my 04 Acura TL about a month and a half ago and have been lurking these forums for awhile. I finally decided to get my windows tinted.

I'm in Louisville, Kentucky and I have been calling every tint shop in the city and they are all idiots. Not a single one of them have ever heard of moleskin. I'm sitting there on the phone with them having to explain to them how to tint my own car. One guys response: "sounds like a great idea, but i've never heard of it". He said he could spray my window and gaskets with silicon. sounds shady.

I finally found a place about 200 miles away that had heard of moleskin, but they don't install it. It looks like i'm out of luck.

if you take your time installing moleskin as a DIY is easy. the best way is to take out the wipes, tint the car, wait 7 days for the tint to dry some, attach moleskin and reinstall the wipes.

"soon" does not really matter. the fact that the tint does scratch without felt does matter. you dont want the hassle of using the "no-scratch" warranty. its a $5 safeguard, why risk it?

the best procedure is to remove the wipes completely, get it tinted, install felt onto wipes and then re-install the wipes. this avoids the tint guy from f'in up the rubber on the wipes and also gives the tint guy plenty of room to cut the film as low as possible on the glass, etc.

i have not heard from anyone that their tint scratched after using a felt product, but i have heard many stories of tint scratching without it.

unless Honda changed the wipes to be tint "friendly" i would suggest using a felt of some sort.

installed the moleskin and the glue got all over tint. I think when it's extremely hot the glue breaks down.

hmmm, 2 years ago we sold some felt to a few folks in TX. they never had any issues (or at least the never told me about them). since then we have sold lots of felt to folks all over the US and this is really the 1st time we are hearing about a glue "streak" issue.

however, we did notice a brief change in the felt product we were getting from supplier. we receieved one batch that used a different backer than the rest.
can you tell me (of those who have this glue problem) if the backing liner was a plastic or paper backer ??

antlive - did you install felt before or after tinting the vehicle?

I used Formula One Pinnicle film on our TL. 15% on all. A friend of mine who has tinted windows for 18 yrs. tinted my car and told me that the felt is a must. I watched him while he tinted and I can tell you that the backing on the felt he used was plastic.

Hi Acura Kid!

Thanks for your link to the free moleskin, I ordered a couple rolls. Do you guys know where i can buy bulk rolls of tint?? I tried to contact 3M but they do not sell to end users only dealers. The dealers dont seem to want to sell me a bulk roll. I am an old school tinter and I have 3 cars that I would like to tint myself.
