Hi Acura Kid, I have a 2004 TL that I'm wanting to tint. I have the navi, so I believe I need the ceramic film. I was looking at the Huper Optik, so I was just curious, why did you remove it from yours?

It's been difficult for me to research installers in the Atlanta area on the Web, but at least your information is very helpful!

because the a-hole tinter who did it screwed it all up. i tried to have it fixed but that also went south so i decided to not use HO. needless to say the tinter owes me $580.00 and it will be settled in court on 8/2/05.

if you can find Formula-One Pinnacle film, go with that, its more popular so the installers know how to form-fit it better.

i paid $480 for the tint. the other $100 was for removing some of the film. i went with SolarGard, its a good film, easy to install/repair, and not so pricey.

My dealership wants $550. I'm still debating whether to get the Uber Optik or go for the $299 basic dealership tint, or just hit the local tinter for their $129 special...

129 does not sound like a quality job/film.

it's "Huper Optik". it a pricey film and hard to install, hence the high total cost. it's used in very intense sun places like AZ and TX, etc.

Does anyone know a good tinter in the Virgina Beach area. I found one Solargard supplier, but have not called to question him. I guess the consensus in Solarard NR all around except HP on the back and try to match the shades/color, is this correct.

Thanks,

J-dubb

is it not "HP all around and NR on the rear" if you have navi ?? make sure....

I have Navi, so I gues I had it backward. NR is "non-reflective" and therefore noe metallic content and that is why it goes in the rear, then the HP for the rest.
AK - Is this correct?

Thanks

Thanks for the info on North Scottsdale Acura. I'm in the process of buying a car from them right now. I originally told them I wanted the Huper Optik. But after reading your post, I think I'll decline and get it tinted elsewhere.

Anyone have any leads for tinting in the metro Phoenix area?

Would like to get my TL tinted all around...had a couple places quote me already.

Wicked Works $250 with felt "carbon tint"
Audio Excellence $219 no felt
Modern Image $200 but if i wanted felt they said I'm looking at $500!

Audio Excellence tinted my RSX before but the salesman didnt know jack about moleskin. And Wicked Works seemed to know a lot since the tinter himself owns a TSX and they already knew about the problem.

Please help me please find a trustworthy shop in San Diego.

Does anyone know of a good tint place in the Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads area. All the ones I called gave me the same answers that AcuraKid said to stay away from, ie. my tint is scratch resistant, what is the felt for or you can't get it all the way to the edge of that window.

Help please, we take delivery this Saturday and I wanted to get it tinted soon.

Thanks,

J-dubb
